Exit height

Please pay attention to the labelling of the height difference between the platform and the vehicle floor: e.g. Harthof (2-7 cm), Scheidplatz (8-13 cm), Riem (24-30 cm). If needed, the train driver will provide assistance when boarding or disembarking, therefore, please use the 1st door behind the driver.

Buses and trams are equipped with collapsible ramps or lifting platforms (each with 300 kg maximum load capacity). To indicate that you need these aids, simply wave to the driver.  Please note that these aids are only authorised for wheelchairs, not for rollators or other walking aids. At some tram stops, the platform is raised nearly to the floor of the carriage. If necessary, the driver will place a mobile folding ramp over the gap.

Exit side

The exit side of underground and suburban trains is typically on the left. If it is on the right, this is announced and displayed in the suburban trains and the newer underground trains.

At underground stations with a greater height difference between the platform and the carriage floor, you will find a yellow ramp at the front of the platform, which facilitates easier boarding at the first door.

High-contrast ribbed panels and attention fields are available at platforms, entrances to underground stations and some suburban railway stations, bus and tram stops to assist blind and visually impaired passengers.
